Steven Cosmo Obituary

Steven Thomas Cosmo passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 8, 2022 with his family by his side. He was 29.

He was a caring and dedicated son, brother, uncle, public servant, colleague, dog-dad, and friend. He was loved and will be missed immeasurably.

Steven served his country as an infantryman with the United States Marine Corps, enlisting when he was 16-years-old and leaving for boot camp at Parris Island following his graduation from high school. Upon his honorable discharge in 2014, Steven was immediately hired by the Burlington Township Police Department. He served his community proudly and steadfastly, being awarded Officer of the Year in 2016 and making detective in 2018—both being incredible accomplishments so early in his career.

Steven was a man of few words. He was an avid athlete in his youth, a lifelong gamer, tech lover, jokester, and sneakerhead. He was a young punk who turned into an exceptional man. Steven’s contagious smile, kindness, and decency will always be remembered.

Born on Thursday, July 2, 1992 in Willingboro, NJ, Steven was a lifelong resident of Burlington Township. He is survived by his mother, Donna Dimitri, and was predeceased by his father, Michael J. Cosmo.

Steven is also survived by his loyal four-legged companions, Jasper, Jade, and Charlie; his siblings, Deanna, Alex (Laura), Traci, and Kristin (Stephan); his niece, Cora, and nephews, Ryan and Mitch; his Uncle Art (Pat), his Aunt Barb (Stu), and his Uncle Barry; Kate, who held a special place in his heart; countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; his fellow Marines; and his Brothers and Sisters in Blue.

A celebration of Steven’s life will be held at The Merion, 1301 Route 130 South, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077, on Monday, May 16, 2022. The timeline is as follows:

— 10:00am to 11:00am: Military, law enforcement, and other first responders are invited to pay respects;
— 11:00am: All family, friends, first responders … everyone … are invited to attend a memorial service, Marine Corps Funeral Honors ceremony, and final call from the Burlington Township Police Department; the ceremonies will start promptly at 11:00am;
— 11:30am to 1:00pm: All are invited to pay respects;
— 1:30pm to 3:00pm: All are invited to attend a luncheon and share a memory of Steven.
