Virginia Joan (Short) McConney

Virginia Joan McConney (nee Short) passed peacefully at her home in Columbus, NJ on Thursday May 4, 2023 at the age of 73. She was born in Atlantic City Hospital on October 11, 1949. Her younger years were spent in Brigantine, NJ with sisters Judy, Robin, Margaret and Rose. Virginia and family moved to Willingboro, NJ where she made many neighborhood and high school friends and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1969. After high school, she worked for Arizona Bell, in banking, as a bus aid for handicapped children and even started a nursing course. She had to leave the course to care for her son, Little Dougie who was battling a brain tumor. Joan even published her own poem “In My Lifetime.” Most of all she found time to raise three children and be the best friend to her husband Doug. Joan was predeceased by her son Douglas J. McConney, Jr. and is survived by her husband Douglas, son Jason D. McConney, daughter and son in law Devon and Dwayne Vest, grandchildren Abigayle Joan Vest, Lily R. Vest and Jaxon D. Vest. She is also survived by her beloved pet Rosebud as well as many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 6-8pm and Friday from 9:30-10:30am at the Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union St., Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11am in St. Paul R.C. Church, 223 E. Union St., Burlington. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Rt. 130 N., Cinnaminson.
