On Monday January 17th, Wilbur James (“Jim”) Mcconnell Jr, 67, died peacefully at his home in West Babylon, New York, following many years of ongoing health issues. Jim was born in Columbia, South Carolina, raised in Burlington, New Jersey, and graduated from Burlington City High School in 1972. He then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in its Submarine Fleet for thirteen years, including tours on the USS Hunley, the USS Francis Scott Key, and the USS Benjamin Franklin. Jim later became a beloved team member of Central Nassau Optical, where he was employed for the last 25 years. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma, and is survived by his father, Wilbur, sister, Donna Walsh (Mickey), brothers, Michael (Nancy) and Joseph McConnell (Jen), his former wife, Jane Carroll, and their daughter, Julianna Miller, and grand-daughter, Jocelyn Miller. He is also survived by his daughter; Annamae Edminston, and grand-daughter, Brianna Edminston. Jim adored his seven nieces and nephews and cherished his twelve great nieces and nephews. Jim was well-liked throughout life, possessed a tender heart and frequently shared an uplifting laugh while providing a comforting shoulder. He loved animals dearly with a special fondness for his cats, Mali, Cuddles, Jasper and Diamond. Friends and Family are welcomed to join the family in visitation to celebrate Jim’s life on Sunday January 23, 2022, from 1 p.m. -2:30 p.m. at the Page Funeral Home, 302 East Union Street, Burlington, New Jersey 08016. Services will follow the visitation. A graveside service for immediate family members will be held on January 24.
