William J. Baum of Burlington, passed away on Thursday at Mt. Holly
Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton at the age of 96. William was born in New York, NY and raised in North Plainfield before enlisting and serving his country honorably in the US Navy during World War II. After the war he continued to serve as a NJ State Police Trooper, with a 30 career, retiring in 1980 achieving the rank of Major, from the West Trenton Barracks.
Bill was a sports enthusiast who followed the NY Baseball Giants, until their move, the NY Football Giants and the Yankees. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and reading history books. William was predeceased by his son Stephen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Doris (Nee: Gauker) and their children: a daughter Susan Brown, a son Robert Baum; a granddaughter, Danielle Brown and many loving nieces and nephews.
