William "Bill" C Schirmann, Jr.

William C. Schirmann, Jr. “Bill”86, of Burlington, NJ, passed away at home on Friday, November 25, 2022 being cared for by Deborah, his wife of 52 years. He would tell people he lived a good life.  Born and raised in Greenpoint, NY, he was a big Mets and Giants fan. Bill lived in many places before settling in NJ. He was a radar operator in the Air Force stationed in Japan.  When he completed military service, he worked various jobs.  He owned and operated a pizza restaurant. He worked as DJ, a television news reporter, and was an award- winning radio news reporter for WHWH in Princeton, where he met and interviewed many dignitaries including Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.  Later in his life he worked as a Parole Hearing Officer for the State of NJ and helped to write New Jersey’s Victim Input Program that is still in place today. He also coached Little League Baseball and local soccer teams.

He was mostly commonly known as Bill, but he went by many names.  Bill, Billie, Chip, Dad, Grandpa, Grampsie Bill, Coach and at the local Wawa in Burlington was known as Mr. Bill.

Bill is pre-deceased by his parents William C. Schirmann, Sr and Catherine Schirmann and his brother Robert “Bobby” Schirmann.   He is survived by his wife Deborah Schirmann, six children: Vanessa Hayes, (James), Valora Conniff, Victoria Schirmann, Paul Casteel, Brenda Usdin (Robert), William “Buddy” C. Schirmann III (Cynthia), eight grandchildren: Patrick, Sarah, Hannah, Jessica, Dominic, Cabrina, Jeremy and Melissa, and his sister, Catherine Armstrong.

Per his request there will be no services or visitation.   Donations to the American Cancer Society are requested in lieu of flowers.   Arrangements are under the direction of Page Funeral Home, Burlington, where messages of sympathy may be sent to the family through www.pagefuneralhome.com.
