Edith "Aline" Page Obituary

Mrs. Edith “Aline” Page (nee Bennett), 96, of Medford Leas, died peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, July 5, 2021.  Aline was born in Edgewater Park, NJ, on April 7, 1925, to Ernest Holden Bennett and Edith May Lawrence. After losing her mother as a baby, Aline was raised by her father and stepmother Leanora in Edgewater Park and then later by her aunt Jessie Arenz in Burlington City, NJ.

Aline graduated from Burlington (Wilbur Watts) High School in 1943, being voted “Prettiest Girl” by her classmates. During World War II, she served briefly in the U S Navy WAVES and received an Honorable Discharge.  In 1946, she married Earle Courtney Page, Jr. and settled in Burlington City, where they raised three sons and were members of St. Barnabas and St. Mary’s Episcopal Churches.

Aline worked briefly while her husband attended college under the GI Bill. She was a homemaker most of her life, enjoying making her own clothes, doing home renovations, dancing at the Elks, and attending her husband’s crew reunions. After their sons were grown, Aline and her husband moved to Ship Bottom, NJ, where they were members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Waretown and entertained their grandchildren during the Summer. They spent winters in Florida visiting family and friends and traveled the country by RV. After her husband passed, Aline remained active with quilting and gardening groups, including being one of the early gardeners of the Sunset Point Garden in Ship Bottom. In her final years, Aline moved to Medford Leas, enjoyed reading, and cherished visits with her niece Linda McCardell.

Aline made so many friends through the years in her neighborhoods and churches and through her volunteer work and hobbies. She especially loved her many girls or adopted daughters (aka, her sons’ exes).

Aline is predeceased by her parents, Ernest Holden Bennett and Edith May Lawrence, her husband of 50 years, Earle Courtney Page, Jr., her son Anthony Bennett Page, her cousin/ “sister” Patsy Butler, her brothers William Bennett, Ernest Bennett, and Richard Bennett, and her sister Lois Delisle Parcells. She is survived by sons Earle Courtney Page III, Thomas Page (Donna); grandchildren Jason Page, Anthony Page (Katie), Ashleigh Hatefi (Joe), Spencer Page, Valentina Page, and Holden Page; great grandchildren Samantha Page, Eric Grover, Jordan Hatefi, Zhara Hatefi; her Danish son Michael Bramsnaes; many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

Aline lived an extraordinary life. Her family is comforted by the words she left them, “We did have some good times even if I did cook dry hamburgers. Be happy - I’ll be watching! I love you all.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 10:30-11:30 am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 145 West Broad St., Burlington, NJ 08016-1341, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30am. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Aline's memory to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Burlington, NJ, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Waretown, NJ, or Sunset Point in Ship Bottom, NJ.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to her family from www.pagefuneralhome.com  #lifecelebrationbypage.
