Garland Clayborne was born on November 14, 1963 to Susie Frippe Gordon and Leonard Clayborne. He was one of two sons. Garland spend a large part of his early life in Northern New Jersey living in foster care and various developmental centers. In 1990 Garland moved to the New Lisbon Development Center in Pemberton, NJ.
In 2009, Garland became part of the Merakey family He resided happily at the Eastbrook group home with friends he knew from NLDC. Garland was a joyful individual who loved eating hoagies, Chinese food and any snack he could get his hands on. Garland was known as the cool dude, always dancing and wearing sunglasses. If you ever needed him to do something, just show him a pair of shades and he would gladly participate.
He leaves behind Charlie, Bernard, Miss Helene and the dozen of staff that were blessed to work in his home. Garland was someone that truly loved life and never let anything get him down. Staff could always count on him to put a smile on their face.
A viewing will be held at Page Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 12-1pm. A funeral service will begin at 1pm with burial to follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
