James Morrissey Obituary

James X. Morrissey of Delanco died peacefully with his family by his side on 2/11/2021 at the age of 80. For 49 years, Jim was the devoted husband to the love of his life Susan. He was the beloved father of Caroline (Scott) Megill, Christian Morrissey, and James “JJ” Morrissey, and the proud grandfather of Connor, Lucas, and Gavin Megill who called him “Pop”. He is also survived by his four siblings, Thomas J. Morrissey Jr., Rev. Paul Morrissey S.M., Mary (Eddie) Dallmann, and Milissa Morrissey, and his sister-in-law Janet Campbell-Taylor. Jim was raised in Burlington where he earned his lifelong nickname - “Jimbo”. He attended St. Paul Elementary School and Burlington City High School. He also served 6 years in the Army National Guard Reserve. He was a longtime member and Past Exalted Ruler (1970-1971) of the Elks 996 in Burlington City. For 41 years, Jim worked at PSE&G in Moorestown in the Electric Distribution Department. Jimbo loved being retired and spending his days with his best girl Susan enjoying their lunch dates, day trips, and time with their family. Jim will forever be remembered for his quiet, unassuming kindness. He did so much for so many, without fuss or expectation. He was faithful, thoughtful, and forever focused on building a home and providing opportunities for his family.
