Joseph Giordano Obituary

On April 15, 2021, Joseph A. Giordano died peacefully at Vita Hospice in Jefferson Hospital Stratford, NJ. Joe was 98 years old. Joe was born March 28, 1923 as Giuseppe Albret Giordano in Beverly, NJ. Also known as Pep, Peppy, Joe and Josie. He resided in Edgewater Park for over 70 years. Joe is survived by his soulmate, love of his life, his wife of 74 years, Margaret Santucci Giordano. Joe is survived by his daughter Maryann Fontana and her husband Carl. By his son Dominick Giordano and his wife Wendy, Son in law Arthur Barstow (Rosalie).  Joe is also survived by many grandchildren and their spouses. Cheryl and Ron Smith, Arthur Barstow, Jr., Joseph and Olivia Fontana, Anthony and Ashley Fontana, Donny and Sharon Giordano, Tina and Anthony Deflippo. Joe is survived by 11 great-grandchildren and by many nieces, nephews and close friends. Pre-deceased in death by his daughter Rosalie Giordano Barstow, his mother and father Rosario and Domenico Giordano, his brother Benedicto Giordano, sister and brother in law Angeline and Mario Arronenzi and sister Mary Giordano Esposito. Joe was a Navy Veteran of World War II, Seaman First Class of the US Navy. Joe was an exceptional and experienced saxophone player along with other woodwind instruments. After the was he was sought out by Tommy Dorsey and other Big Band leaders. He did not pursue that career as his heart was home with his wife and family. He was a member of Phil Wing Quarter. Joe worked with his father as a Fireman at Wall Rope in Beverly, NJ after he returned home from the war. Joe worked as a Forman at Cosden Chemcial in Beverly for 40 years. After retirement from Cosden, Joe worked at Santucci Catering as a limo driver and in food prep. Joe and his wife were honorary members of the Beverly McDonald's Club. He will be sadly missed by the retiree club. Joe and his wife also attended St. Joseph's RC Church in Beverly every Saturday evening for Mass.Joseph Giordano will be laid to rest, with his fellow veterans, at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Services will be held privately by his family. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
